The Train Controller is responsible for managing the train movements on the network. They do this from an office located in the Bottom Points Station building where they have internet and phone access, and two-way radio communication with the train crew, signallers, and shop crew. Train Controllers understand the network rules and all aspects and constraints of the railway’s operations. They authorise and control what, how, and when all train movements occur. When non-routine situations arise, the Train Controller is THE person in charge of managing how all the other railway crew respond.

Our Train Controllers all have many years experience in a wide variety of roles within our railway. They not only understand the rules and procedures the railway operates under, but also what the various individual roles comprise, and this knowledge and experience enables them to oversee the safe and effective operation of the railway on any particular operating day.
