CRAFT WORKS DISTILLERY
Craft Works Distillery, founded in 2015, is a local micro distillery nestled on the edge of the stunning Capertee Valley and only thirty minutes north of Lithgow. In an unassuming tin shed behind the historic Royal Hotel Capertee, Craig, affectionately known as Crafty, is making award winning spirits.
Crafty mills, brews, distils, barrels and crafts his own single malt whisky. This Australian style, best described as full flavoured whisky, is artisan craft in the true sense being proudly made in small batches on a 970 litre copper pot still fabricated in NSW using local spring water, NSW malted barley and a range of high quality barrels that provide a range of distinct flavours.
The whisky, which is made and bottled by hand with friends and family, has won numerous national and international awards including those from as far afield as the UK, Japan and Singapore.
You can often catch Crafty selling his whisky, and fresh contemporary style gin made with locally sourced botanicals, at the local markets in Capertee, Rylstone, Mudgee, Portland and in the Blue Mountains. You can also find him at his shed practicing his craft surrounded by the sweet enticing aromas of malted barley, fermenting beer and distilled spirits.
As a small distillery the cellar door opening times are irregular so to avoid disappointment ring ahead to check if Crafty or one of his team are there or to make an appointment.
