Children below the age of 3 travel free of charge provided they are seated on the lap of an adult. If your young one is the type that will want their own seat, a child ticket is required to be purchased.
Children aged between 3 and 16 require a child ticket. The 2024 ticket price is $27.50 for a return journey, this will rise to $30 in 2025.
Concession tickets are $35 in 2024 and will rise to $39 in 2025. Concession tickets cover Australian Pensioners, Seniors card holders, High School, TAFE & University students.
Family tickets are available for $130.00 in 2024 and these permit 2 adults and up to 2 children in the same family to travel together, the 2025 price will be $140.
Additional children can be added to the family ticket, $20/child in 2024 and $25/child in 2025.
All other passengers require an adult ticket which costs $45.00 in 2024 and $46.50 in 2025.
Tickets are only available for sale online using the links through this website. To avoid disappointment, please plan ahead and secure your reservation well before your intended visit as we are often sold out and not able to sell tickets on the day
Trains run Friday, Saturday & Sunday roughly every second weekend.
Some other dates are available but generally we do not offer mid-week trains at this stage.

Guests arriving by car commence their Zig Zag journey at Clarence station - 840 Chifley Road and travel to Bottom Points, and return.
You can book online to purchase tickets to begin your journey at Clarence Station.
Guests arriving by NSW Trainlink commence their Zig Zag journey at Bottom Points Station, and travel to Clarence, and return.

Zig Zag Railway offers experiences suitable for the whole family. Children under 3 travel free of charge if seated on an adult's lap.
Children 16 years and under travel on a child's fare. Family tickets are available for up to 2 adults and 2 children from the same family travelling together, additional tickets at a reduced rate can be added for larger families
Yes, passengers arriving by car to Clarence can access the amenities block with an accessible bathroom, the station building using the built in ramps, and the train by using the ramps deployed by our train guards. We suggest passengers using wheelchairs contact us ahead of the day of travel to allow us to plan the use of our carriages.
All our station buildings include wheelchair accessible facilities.

Please note, the electric train platform that services trains from Lithgow, the Blue Mountains, and beyond, does not have ramps. This platform is not within the Zig Zag Railway precinct and we are unable to assist visitors in wheelchairs who arrive by train. This platform is accessed by stairs which are unsuitable for passengers using a wheelchair.
Holders of Companion Cards enjoy free travel on regular Zig Zag Railway services when accompanying a person receiving care.
Please make a booking online purchasing the required number and types of tickets excluding the companion card holder.
When you receive your booking confirmation by email, please forward the booking email to bookings(AT)zigzagrailway.com.au requesting the required number of complementary companion card holder tickets be added to the booking.
We welcome properly restrained dogs and other animals within our Clarence precinct. They must be properly supervised at all times, and any manure must be collected in the provided plastic bags and disposed of in our bins.
Assistance animals are permitted on our trains when accompanying the person they assist. Other animals are not permitted within our trains at this time.
Our policy regarding access of animals is constantly being reviewed, however we regret that at this time we cannot accommodate pets on any of our services.
Zig Zag Railway offers concessional fares to Pensioners, Seniors card holders, High School, TAFE & University students. Passengers must present their concession card at the time of check-in.
Holders of Companion Cards are entitled to travel free in the company of the person receiving care services - see FAQ re Companion Cards.
The return journey takes approximately between 90. As a general rule, allowing 120 minutes return should give you time to visit the shop after your journey.
Don't forget to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to scheduled departure if arriving by car to allow sufficient time to check-in. If arriving by electric train please make sure you have read the instructions on this page

Buying a gift voucher for the Zig Zag Railway is a fantastic way to share the magic of this historic railway with your loved ones.
We offer gift vouchers that can conveniently be purchased online. Learn more about purchasing gift vouchers.
The gift voucher will be a 10 digit number starting with a '2'. To redeem, head to to our tickets page and choose the tickets that you require. After you have entered your passenger names, there will be a section that says "Apply a discount", here you can enter the voucher numbers. If you don't have enough money in vouchers, you can pay any balance using a credit/debit card
