It was the most numerous type of wagon with a total of 4,400 entering service. During their lifetime a number were modified for specific uses and re-classified accordingly. FJS wagons were not used for General Traffic after 1st June 1991 and 1000 existing wagons were re-classified MFJS for Department use only.
